You want to turn your nice photos into something that tells a story with something like a scrapbook. Anyone can learn how to scrapbook if he or she has the patience and creative juices to do it. Aside from that, you should also have the most important tools required for scrapbooking. By having the right scrapbooking tools, you can easily create with wonderful scrapbook pages which will make memories last a lifetime.
Papers
So what’s the first thing that you need in scrapbooking? Let’s start with the all-important paper. You don’t even need to have the fanciest or priciest scrapbooking paper. Simply look around your house – go through your drawers, look for old gift wraps, cards, packaging paper, magazines, old papers and even newspapers. Just let your imagination run wild and you can come up with materials to spice up your scrapboking page. Or, you can invest in some specialty papers like ones which have patterns or new gift wrapping paper.
Scissors
As much as possible, use different kinds of scissors such as a pair which allows you to create zigzaged edges on the material that you will cut. However, it is still possible for you to use a regular pair of scissors for you to have a creative scrapbooking session. Scissors will help you trim papers, cut shapes, resize the printed photos and do a number of other things. The aforementioned craft scissors which create shaped edges are extremely useful if you want to give decorative trims on the paper used for scrapbooking. Creating these decorative trims using regular scissors will be quite difficult so craft scissors is a much better and easier option.
Adhesives
Any adhesive which can be used to paste any type of material to your scrapbook belongs to this group. Among most important is glue. There’s also clear or colored scotch tape and double-sided tape for gluing two photos together minus the mess. Staplers can be used to more permanently stick two items together and to add a creative touch, use colored staple wires.
Putting the Finishing Touches to Your Scrapbook
Cut-out papers are typically used decorations for scrapbook page ideas. But sometimes, cut-out shapes need some outlines or drawings to make them look interesting. For instance, you can’t say that a circle is a ball if you won’t add some details to make it look like a ball. Adding illustrations on the pages will spice up your design as well. Aside from pens and pencils, you can also use markers, color pens, crayons, colored pencisl and pastel.
Should you decide to purchase premade scrapbook pages, these basic scrapbooking materials are still required. Sure, purchasing pre-made pages can make it easier for you to put together a scrapbook. But knowing that you spent all your creativity, time and effort into organizing your mementos into a lovely scrapbook is what will make those memories even more special.
