I am Rob Anderson.

In 1996 or thereabout my wife and I started to design and make hammocks from our home.

We were already selling products on the flea markets and I had a yearning to get back into furniture and furniture design.

So we started to build these hammock and hammock chairs.

Now my love of design very quickly caused  a normal range of hammocks to grow into a big range of hammock related furniture.

We ran the business full time for about 12 years and it was only that the business had grown to a size that qualified it as a real business that I stopped being excited by what I did every day.

So, it would have been totally criminal to abandon the styles of hammocks that I designed, so I will still occasionally manufacture the more popular designs.

Surely I cannot deprive the world of the drinking-chair?

At this point it would be pertinent to warn you all about a very important fact. I no longer need the income from hammocks to survive and this is really bad news for you if you are desperate to get a great and a high quality original Designsmith product.
